Caudal Chocolate carries a family history woven into Ecuador's cacao and chocolate heritage — a story that moves between Guayaquil and Manabí, between machinery and craft, between the land and the people who learned to love it.
It is not a story of slogans. It is a story of generations who worked with their hands, followed their curiosity, and helped show that Ecuador could be known not only for exceptional cacao, but for exceptional chocolate.
Nuestra Historia
The Caudal story reaches back to the early twentieth century and follows a family across trades, cities and generations.
Early 20th century
In the early 1900s an Italian immigrant arrived in Guayaquil, coming from a family of artisans and mechanics. Like many immigrants, he learned different trades through curiosity and hard work.
Machinery and a creative instinct for chocolate-making became an important part of his life. He passed that curiosity — and a deep love for the land that welcomed him — on to his family.
His son followed those footsteps, inventing machines and industrial processes for food products that would later become important Ecuadorian exports.
Together with his best friend, he began producing fine-flavor chocolate in Ecuador — helping to demonstrate that the country was capable not only of growing exceptional cacao, but of making high-quality chocolate.
The family story later joined with Manabí through marriage to the daughter of a Manabí businessman, who had come to Guayaquil to establish a trading house and bring some of the finest cacao and coffee to the world.
The family home on Panamá Street, above cacao warehouses, was filled with the unmistakable aroma of Cacao Arriba — intertwined with the memory of Manabí cooking.
Today the descendants continue that story, gathering its threads into a single name: Caudal.
